SYNOPSIS
* What recorded catastrophes have caused worldwide devastation?
* How did surviving generations remember and record such events?
* How do such catastrophes alter history, affect religion and subvert science?
* Is Mankind a species with amnesia?
* Do we continuously react to events from the past to justify our present destructive behaviour?

We are aware of the destructive power of Nature. Mankind has also created some devastating means of destroying his fellows. Terrible though the effects of being caught up in either a natural or man-made disaster will be for those involved, they are all localised events, experienced directly by relatively few. The majority will be onlookers or even unaware and certainly physically unaffected.

However, there is one type of event which would be experienced by the whole world - something originating from space, something above earth coming towards us. Should a planetary body appear to be on collision course with earth, there is little we can do but watch and wait.

The physical effects of a collision or near-miss by another celestial object on earth would be horrific to everyone alive at the time. There would be devastation on a scale beyond anything nature could do or man could imagine. The human race could literally face extinction.

Has such an event ever occurred in recorded history? Yes.

Do those records exist today? Yes.

Why don't we know about them? We do, but we choose to dismiss them.

How individuals react to the experience of a traumatic and life threatening event is now well documented. There are common features to their behaviour. Professionals who are skilled in the treatment of such cases can predict what to expect. In extreme situations an individual is unable to remember what happened. That is amnesia.

Has there ever have been a world-wide event of such overwhelming danger that the survivors were so devastated the result was universal amnesia? Are we living with the effects of that amnesia today?

Our future has the potential to be exciting and productive, but only when we understand what really happened in our recent past.

We have had to live with distortions in history, religion and science with results that are becoming only too plain to see. Our real history is not only stranger than we can imagine but far, far more dramatic.
